Blue Monday

You know how I feel about January. So, if you're feeling down in the dumps, you're not the only one. In fact, as it turns out, today, January 25, is Blue Monday, or the most depressing day of the year. True fact. Ask your local psychologist.

That's right, you've already failed on the brand new resolutions you've made for yourself (loser), you're overweight from those last three eating holidays (tubby), you're bills are due and you're starting to wish you would've opted for the lame razr instead of the shiny iphone (pretentious). It is dark and cold and spring is still months (that's right, with an s) away. So be depressed. I mean, is there really another option, given our circumstance? Fuel for the fire:

  1. Dang those kitties throwing out insults!

Today is shapin' out to be pretty rotten. My little one has to get 3 shots, I have a terrible sinus infection, and my cousins husband is in town and I most likely won't get to see him.

By the way, once when I lived in Ohio I promise you I found my car in the morning looking frozen just like that! And it was Jan. 25, too!!! ;)

  2. You forgot to add a photo of the earthquake in Haiti. I guess that would take some of the funny out of it.

    Nice post.

  3. hahaha Lindsey. Today in Ohio, it's mild and rainy. The grass and trees are so green and bright. It's actually 45 degrees today. My paperboy was wearing shorts. It's a heat wave!

How do I feel about it being January 25th and a monday??? Well, I hate Mondays. I hate that I have to go to work all day and then school all evening. I hate that by the time I get home, I have to go straight to bed to conquer Tuesday.

Poo on you Monday, January 25th.

  5. Boy, I live in California, and you've even got ME convinced. That last one of the car (and the first one of Conan) were especially hard to swallow...

    =)

  8. Love it. Those filthy parking lot snow/ice piles are the quintessential depressing Utah site. Add a nice winter inversion to that and we're all ready to wallow in a mire of misery.

  9. While I miss my family in Utah something fierce (still...5 years later...) there IS something satisfactory about driving back to Cali after the holidays. Jan-March are the worst months in Utah!

Even still, it's been raining here for weeks and the ants are finding my home (sorry, my RENTAL home...) a suitable place to live. Ugh!

  11. And to think, I was happy that Spring is only 2 months away. lol

  12. Yeah, life stinks, blah blah blah, but I can endure almost anything (even 01/25) now that the inversion is gone! Yay for storms that blow all that bad air out of the valley.

Ha ha ha, Lindsey, I'm laughing at your "kitties" comment.

  13. @Linds (and everyone else who likes funny stuff), you have got to check out the rest of the kitty collection--well it is actually all kinds of baby animals. It is a collection of post cards called "breaking bad news with baby animals". Someone brought them to a white elephant party and we died laughing at some of them.

  15. Awesome kitties.

I think it was January 25th last year when my twins came down with RSV. Add that to your list.

this year, though, with Conan... it might be worse.

  16. I specifically looked at the comments to make sure Emily had said she had no regrets over her iphone. Phew.

Go shopping, Jayne. Girls' night out? Make your blue monday shine.

  17. WAIT! I forgot to say, make SURE you don't go to Walmart. It'll make things worse, much much worse.

  18. It just occurred to me, Jayne, that perhaps you were calling me pretentious? Rude. Now this really is the crappiest day of the year. Thanks a lot.

  20. Hahahaha Em,
I specifically said to Jed, "maybe I should change iphone so all my iphone friends don't feel bad." Then Jed said whoever had an iphone should feel bad.

We're not super jealous or anything.

  21. I don't know, yesterday wasn't so bad. I got two new pairs of shoes and I won two free pilates classes. Stuff like that never happens to me. But now that you mention it, I did get super depressed last night just before 10:30. I felt real grief. Life is just not as good without Conan.

Ok I know I'm a bit late on the post, but just so you know, my Monday wasn't half bad...All because of one thing.

    Nobody hurled in AP American!

Yeah, it really happened last week. All over the floor. It was awesome.

  23. Jayne, I know I'm just a creepy blog stalker and everything but could you email me? I want to ask you something. margfarg at aol dot com. That's the email address I made when I was 13. Still have it. It's real professional sounding.
