The Roasted Duck Sails Again

This was my third time spending a birthday at Lake Powell. I've turned 8, 18 and now 30 in that beautiful part of the world. When I was young, we spent much time in the summer at Lake Powell. I looked forward to it every year, and was disappointed if we didn't go at least twice. This year, I tried to convince my dad it was time to go back. He insisted he was too old (well he is almost 54!) but promised to teach Jed, Lance and Chuck the ropes. He and Lance and Katie remodeled the boat (did you know boats could be remodeled?) and made it look so sweet. And guess what? We did it. We went without my dad and we made it! That is not to say we didn't miss him. The true heroes were my mom and aunt Shana who watched our babies. Because babies at Lake Powell=misery like unto standing in line at the DMV.

Turning 8

Turning 18
Turning 30

And many more: (did you sing that?)

From the photos online it looks like you went up Moki. Love that 'male' warrior. Thanks for bringing back Powell memories for me.

Did Katie Not have anything to do with the remodel? I seem to remember her outside working really hard, spending lots of late nights on recarpeting, recovering cusions, sewing covers, installing snaps, polishing wood... I don't know but maybe she should get some of the romdeling credit ? I mean, she did look like she was exhausted after all her hard work.
What a hard worker!

Maybe Not Katie should get her own blog to pat herself on her own back. ;)

Looks like it was so much fun! What a great way to spend a birthday. And I think it IS pretty cool that the Roasted Duck was re-modeled. I have many memories of being in the bow of the boat and bumping my head all around due to Dave's driving.

See you soon!

Jaynie, I loved going to Powell with you and the Roasted Duck years ago. Your mom and dad were great fun too. I am glad you guys are brave enough to do it alone. I am very jealous--been too long since my family quit going. And Katie, there is no doubt you spent a lot of time fixing up that boat too. Nice job, all. Next time, I'll get a sitter and sneak aboard.

Happy Birthday, Jayne...it looks like your trip was the trip of the century. I've only been to Powell once, but it was a blast.

Thanks for the birthday wishes all!

True true true, Not Katie. I do remember Katie stapling boat type fabric over cushions to make seats. I've told her before if she'd stop being so talented, Dad would stop asking her to do so much work. But you'll notice in my post edit I put her name in.

I don't think Katie should get a blog though Lindsey and Lori, just one more thing for her to show me up on. Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!

Well thanks Not Katie for your kind words- but really it wasn't much. And no I should never start a blog. For one, who can find time for it? I don't know how Jayne does it. Two- I can't spell. and Three- I'm not funny, so who would want to read it anyway. I didn't get the good writing gene. What gives.

Keep in mind that that boat would not have music if it weren't for my addition to the remodel... (Almost had that mister working, but that is not my fault, the pump had no power)...
