5 Years

When they handed me Parley in the hospital five years ago, I wasn't even totally ready. I had pushed for 15 minutes, as opposed to the 2 hours with Hazel, and I wasn't expecting to be holding a baby so soon. Five years later, I'm not sure I'm totally ready to have a five year old boy.

In some ways though, I am. Like yesterday, when he gave a talk in church, and insisted he do it on his own and that I "not whisper in his ear". He got up to the podium before I realized he was there, and over the microphone I heard, "Uh, I think I've got a little bit of a problem." to the laughter of all the kids--typical ham-it-up Parley. So I rushed up there and helped him remember what he'd written (which was lovely). I was proud of him there, and I really liked what that baby boy was turning into. So, while I'm not ready to give up that little boy--the one who writes me love notes and colors with me, I sure like getting to know this funny and charming little bigger boy.

I love this post, you are such a good writer and so sweet about your darling kids. Parley is such a funny, smart, handsome, kind boy. I adore him.

Oh, sweet Parley. The only one of your babies that I got to see in the hospital. I remember holding him with my big tummy (Deacon) and just loving him, and hoping that I would only have to push 15 minutes. Ahh, quite the opposite....

Love you Parley! Hope you had a wonderful 5th birthday!

Happy Birthday to Parley! He is such a doll and so darn funny. I'll never forget the time out on the deck when he was being so crazy and we were all laughing until we cried. I didn't know he was so crazy until that day! It just keeps getting better and better. I adore my teenage boy :).
