Someday, Someday and a Giveaway, Giveaway

Jed does all my music research for me these days. I used to feel like I was really up to date in the music world and could feel all superior about that band that I loved that barely anyone knew. Motherhood has taken all that away from me (the time to research as well as all the CD players in the house, now all busted up with CDs smashed in them). But Jed knows me well enough, and so he hooks me up (you can count on me saying that in every post from now on).

So, while working on The Lower Lights project, Jed came home each night with more good things to say about Sarah Sample. "I know you'll love her music, it's just your style." He got me a disc, and the truth is, I do love her music. I do, I do. I loved it before her latest album, (neener-neener) but this latest, Someday, Someday, is pure pleasure. I listen and listen and listen.

And for heaven's sake, you should too. The album dropped Tuesday (that's the way cool people say 'it was released Tuesday').

Here's where you can get a free download of "Every Time I Go".
Here's where you can buy the whole thing (hurry up!)
Here's where you can watch Jed's teaser video (does that sound x-rated?).

And just because I'm doubting many people stuck with me and my silly blog through these last few post-less months, and I want to reward those who have (chances will be great!) I am going to GIVE a CD away! YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWW! Go ahead and leave me a comment (by Friday at 7 pm) and prepare to win!

But anyone who says "pick me, pick me!" as their comment automatically loses. I only get, like, 3 emails during the day and two are from US airways and Bank of America, so entertain me!

Go get your free download! Everyone's a winner!

I'm so glad to hear that there are other women who have sacrificed not only their bodies to bring children into this world, but also their musical up-to-date-ness. The other day the mood struck me to play a cd (which I hadn't done in months. maybe a year) but when I went to pop it into the cd player, the dang thing wouldn't open because somebody had stuffed a wad of paper into it and I can't get it out. I can't even touch it actually. So, I went to my other cd player and opened it to find a ritz cracker packed in around the laser thing. I don't know a lot about technology but I figure that laser thingy is important. So, I just put my Hanson cd back on the shelf. I hope someday when my kids are old enough to know what ritz crackers are actually for, I can listen to Hanson whenever I want.

In the mean time I would enjoy some Sarah Sample to put on my ipod where the kids can't touch it.

Pick me or Sarah will be even more mad at you.

Oh the pressure...to leave a comment as a serial lurker, and then have to entertain you as well...I NEED this cd, I went into a music shop and I decided to make two purchases, my beloved saw my about-to-be-purchases and walked out before anyone saw us together, and even then threatened to make me walk home...but I now own Bananarama and Barry Manilow...right there on the shelf next to his CDs...the joy that brings me is indescribable. He would be horrified I just admitted to buying them online in public! Even that brings me joy on this day that my children have tried to bring me to my knees!

I need to win-- I live in Switzerland and the radio here STINKS! Except, I'm afraid that admitting I live in Switzerland puts me out of the running because of shipping costs. Ruff.

But I have a Hazel too, so that's another good reason to pick me.

I actually just found out about the Lower Lights Project a couple weeks ago and I am in love! Truly! I get so excited when I find new music and this is definitely something to get excited about. I really would love Sarah's CD so please consider me. :)

I think I deserve to win: I live in Rexburg,ID, where the only radio station options are country or Christian rock and there are no free rooftop concerts of cool local music (although we did get David Archuleta here a while back); I have also let go of all cool new music pursuits, especially now that my two-year-old has turned evil and is doing everything in her power to separate me from the things that I enjoy; I am currently wearing a JOGGING suit and ORANGE CROCS (I might as well wear a sign that says "I give up"); and my living room rug smells like vomit. Something's gotta give!

Underwear Poem

As soon as Fred gets out of bed
His underwear goes on his head.
His mother laughs “Don’t put it there,
A head’s no place for underwear!”
But near his ears, above his brains,
Is where Fred’s underwear remains.
At night when Fred goes back to bed,
He deftly plucks it off his head
His mother switches off the light
And softly croons,”Good night! Good night!”
And then, for reasons no one knows
Fred’s underwear goes on his toes.

I know what you mean about the whole CD situation. Sadly, I am old enough that all of my FAVORITE music is on Cassette...yep, I said Cassette...does anyone besides me even know what a cassette is??? and the music I love can only be found on CD in compilations...compilations that always have at least 3 songs I'd rather not listen to and I consider waste of CD space. *sigh* Since I sadly need to brought into the future with new music, I think you should randomly *ahem* choose me to win Sarah's CD. I promise to play it over and over and over until the laser burns grooves so deep that I have to purchase another to replace it. I promise! ...and I'm not even crossing my fingers behind my back or anything!

I've stuck with your silly blog! That means I should win. HA!

kateastrophe said...

For the record it's not silly and I actually really like that. I should have said that in my last comment but I was too busy laughing at my stupid self.

Since you shafted me for the Country Living Fair (yep! I am calling you out on your national blog!!!) you MUST give me that darn CD. You owe me.

Love ya!

The title of this little ditty is:
When Alliteration and Rhyming Fail,
Blog Begging Begins

Sarah Sample seems to sing
the sort of stuff that speaks to me
so send this CD straight to Sue
the sun will sparkle, rise and set for you
(the stars will, too)

CHOOSE ME! CHOOSE ME!!

(Please note: The word "choose" is brought to you by the letter "c" and exempts me from your automatic loss clause.)

I recently spent 4 hours in a vehicle with a dear friend and her brother on the way to their mother's wake. They tickled my auditory nerve with the smooth sounds of Easy Listening 80's. After my total immersion into Lionel Ritchie and Soft Duran Duran being lulled into an 80's semi-coma my only thought was "how did I miss this, and why did it go out of style"...since then my husband and stepchildren have performed an intervention, so I guess I have crap taste in music. Maybe if I had Sarah Sample's cd I could redeem myself.

When I was in college my friend, Bri was so cool because she had the hook up for music. She was in this all-girl band but the best part of it was she didn't think she was cool because of that. It was just part of her existence. Anyway, I was introduced to so many great bands because of her. Then we moved away from each other and each became mothers. Now the Backyardigans and Cat in the Hat music rule my life.
Please be my new Bri!

Wow, I hope Julian is drawing names out of a hat again, or else yellowmutt will win for sure. That being said, you know I need music help more than any other people. The only cool music I have are mixes you and Jed made.

Plus, I don't have a midwestern female Santa to send me cute shoes.

One time for christmas you made this awesome CD to give to all your friends and mine never worked! I think I deserve a CD that works!

AND I want to trade kids for a weekend, If I found a note from Matthew about Monday all it would say is - Monday sucks!:) I love how sweet Hazel is. And she's a great writer too. I need a girl.

i have faithfully read your blog even in these post-less months! and i parked next to you at old navy once this summer. so i automatically win the cd, right?

PLUS i was at the lower lights rooftop concert and sarah sample talked to me to promote her own concert! i do love her, i really do.

and i secretly feel superior about bands that barely anyone knows. like i heard and loved "i'm yours" by jason mraz in 2006. when did YOU first hear it?

p.s. your brother is cute. i'm 21, he's probably 21, so maybe you can "hook me up" ? ;) just kidding. but seriously.

choose me!

I just listened and I do believe it will be my new favorite album! I'd love to have something other than Scritti Politti and Erasure in my car.

I've been looking around for videos to watch and listen to Sarah's music. It's so folksy and rich! It is seriously layered with texture...I could almost touch it with my fingers when it is wafting through the air!

How about a joke for your kids?

How do you make a tissue dance?

You put a little boogie in it!

I guess if I am chosen, the theme for PBS's Cat in the Hat will have to stop playing an endless loop in my brain? yay? I really dig Martin Short...

I'm all excited in the morning to see 15 new emails and then I realize only one is real and the rest are from Shutterfly, a company I have never once ordered from, but seems to have made it their mission in life to cram up my inbox.

I was going to say "I never win" but that's not true. I've got luck on my side and tend to win random things, like paper dolls. But I intend to send my luck your way so you'll send that cd mine.

If I made my own teaser video will that count as another 12 entries. And if I blog about your giveaway does that make another 7 entries. And if I make fortune cookies with "Jayne say you win" on the fortune strip will that get me another 10? So, I'm up to 30 entries the way I see it.

Hook me up Jayne! (I can use it too). You totally owe me! Remember the time you kicked me in the tailbone REALLY hard when I turned off the nintendo while you were playing? ( you played WAY too much anyway.) Now is your chance to redeam yourself.

Your very forgiving sister, Katie

yes I did just say redeam. Sorry, I meant redeem. Spelling never was my subject...

dang i wish blogger would just let me edit the comment instead of deleting it. i should've followed katie and just left my edits in two equal subsequent posts.

i was just saying i would leave you an entertaining comment but i already sent you a real live email and you actually didn't respond. granted, i sent it to jed too, who replied, and maybe you thought it counted for the both of you but it didn't.

no reply needed though if i get the CD. (and do you know who took the amazing portrait for her cover?)

Argh Jayne, entertaining comments are SO DANG HARD!
I definitely prided myself on my musical taste and up-to-dateness. And then real life caught up, and I haven't been able to buy music in the volume that I used to. So I need some Sarah. I've been trying to bulk up my music collection over the last couple of months, and it's going ok, but I need more.

So pick me, pick me!!

I am so diggin this gal. Cjane turned me on to her with the video she recently posted (nice work), an I have been downloading her stuff to catch up for this new album! I do have to admit that I recently won the Basa kit, and somewhere in the comment I left, I promised to eat it if I won. I will stay true to that promise, and if I win the cd, I will dance around in joy whilst eating my Basa! Promise!

Jayne, I just found my way to your blog from some friends from the old ward, and I'm missing that beautiful, beautiful valley. We're in Boston and happy. Clark works at Bose and we have 2 boys. Let me know if you come our way! And hook me up with some down home tunes in the meantime, if you please. (My family is tired of Lower Lights being on repeat all of the time.) Warm wishes to you and your family.
