A Week In Hazel's Notes

I find little squares of scratch paper throughout the house with a picture drawn or a note written or both. Hazel has been an artist for a long time, but words have given her new freedom and she puts it to good use. Parley, too, has started to draw (remarkably well--thanks Jed) and has recently added letters to each piece of art, since clearly it is the thing to do. When they're not looking I recycle (go ahead and call me a bragger) most of the papers I find everywhere, but some are so wonderful they must be kept. This week I will post some of the notes and pictures Hazel creates, starting with this one:
Translation:
"Dear Tooth fairy,
I'm sorry but I swallowed my tooth. Will you still give me a quarter?
Love, Hazel"

To add to the cuteness of this note, today, while visiting Atticus, Hazel was explaining that she got a quarter for losing her tooth. Atticus wondered how that was possible (he likes to find ways to get money, just like his mom). Hazel explained, "Well, when you lose a tooth, you just put it under your pillow and the tooth fairy puts a quarter under your pillow!"

Immediately, Atticus said, "Well it's really just your mom and dad." (Thanks a lot Katie)
to which Hazel replied, "I know, I know...but I really think it's my grandma."

Whoever it was gave her a quarter and a nice note back.

Exciting transitions! Flossie, the tooth fairy at our house, started giving out golden dollars a few years back, which has been very popular. I had to stock up in bulk at the bank one month when three of the kids had several loose tooth each :-)

I also love the conversation Hazel and Atticus had. The part about her Grandma made me laugh really hard. Cute Hazel!!

No wonder Jesus wanted the little children to come unto Him. They are way funnier than most adults I know, plus they write little notes that have to be decoded, AND little children = snackity snack time EVERY day. Jesus was a smart dude.

Divine wrote the toothfairy a similar note, except she included, "if you're real, put a line through the 5 dollar bill." 5 dollar bill! I left a decent amount of coinage, but no 5. Smart kids, aren't they?

I'm so happy that it helped soften the blow of Atticus' revelation about the Tooth Fairy for Hazel to think it was me, Grandma, leaving the money and the note. I would happily be the Tooth Fairy to them all. I could really fake Atticus out couldn't I?
I love, love Hazel's darling notes. They remind me of the time Chuck wrote the sweetest letter to Jesus and put it in the mail box! And drew a picture for Santa Claus to hang on his refrigerator!
Cute kids!
Love, The Tooth Fairy

Jed should have left a note from the TF saying, "Sorry, Haze...I really do need that tooth, have your mommy help you find it; Then we'll see"

I think one of my favorite things about all of these notes is the way she spells but.
