Hazel, the Poet

"Look, Mom. I wrote a poem!" she says, and hands me this piece of scratch paper.

Not sure what it means or who the boy is. But there's something really cute buried in the dark syntax. Or at least that's what Jed said.

Not sure what syntax is? I wasn't either, but Jed told me it was a real word.

Jed and Hazel. What show-offs. Morbid show offs.

I love them.

My compliments on Hazel's diction. I enjoyed the juxtaposition of "eaten" and "dead." There's clarity like you don't always see in modern poetry!

I wish I could be more smart as Hazel and Jed.

I love the poem! For some reason, it reminds me of a Violent Femmes' song:

I hear the rain,
I hear the rain,
I hear the rain,
Gotta' kill the pain.

Maybe she has a future as a lyricist.

I don't know as if there is a venue for this type of child-poetry...heck, maybe there is. Does Marilyn Manson have kids?
